• 1862

  

  Hua Chunshan opened Hua’s Needle Shop in Hulong Street (now Renmin Road in Suzhou), and Hua Maoqing inherited his father's business at the end of the Qing Dynasty, and the name of the store was changed to Hua Erfang. From then on, "in the north there is Tongrentang, in the south there is Hua Erfang".
  

• 1962

  

  Suzhou City Handicraft Bureau issued "Acupuncture Needle Quality Standard (Provisional)" based on the characteristics of acupuncture needle production in Huar Erfang.

• 1973

  

  The Ministry of Health of China implemented the standardization of medical devices, and instructed Suzhou Medical Appliance Factory to draft the ministerial standard for acupuncture needles.
  

1979-2012 品质匠心 造就传奇老字号

• 1979

  

  Suzhou Medical Appliance Factory resumed registration of the trademark "Hwato Brand".

• 1980

  

  The General Administration of Medicine of China appointed Suzhou Medical Supplies Factory to draft the National Standard for Acupuncture Needles.
  

• 1979、1984、1989

  

  The company was awarded the National Quality Products Gold Award for three consecutive times.

• 1997

  

  Became the first domestic brand in China to obtain EU CE certification for medical devices.

• 2009

  

  Joined Yuwell Medical group, entered into a period of rapid development.

• 2010

  

  "Hwato was recognized by the Ministry of Commerce of China as a "Chinese Tim-honored Brand" for protection and promotion.

2012-2018 制定标准 全球针灸针跟着“华佗”造

• 2013

  

  Awarded "National Model Base for Production of TCM Diagnostic and Treatment Equipment".

• 2014

  

  Suzhou Medical Appliance Factory took the lead in drafting the ISO international standard for acupuncture needles, which is the first international standard for TCM and the first ISO standard for medical devices drafted by China. 

• 2016

  

  The current valid version of GB2024 National Standard for Acupuncture Needles drafted and revised by Suzhou Medical Appliance Factory was released.
  

• 2018

  

  YY/T0104 "Three-edged Needle", an industry standard for TCM devices drafted and formulated by Suzhou Medical Appliance Factory, was released.

  YY/T0105 "Press Needles" (Intradermal Needles), drafted and formulated by Suzhou Medical Appliance Factory, is released.

• 2021

  

  The company was awarded the honorary title of "Jiangsu Industrial Design Center" and "Private enterprise of Science and Technology of Jiangsu Province".

  Intelligent manufacturing production base of Hwato Acupuncture Needles was put into operation in Yuwell Global Industrialization Base, and the annual output of acupuncture needles exceeded 3 billion pieces.

  Hwato reached a strategic cooperation with China Acupuncture and Moxibustion Association, exclusively sponsoring the Acupuncture and Massage Clinical Skills Competition of National TCM Colleges and Universities for three consecutive years, and promoting the talents education in clinical skills of TCM colleges and universities across the country.

  On the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the Hwato brand, we jointly set up the "Hwato Golden Needle Award" with Acupuncture and Moxibustion Associations of provinces and municipalities, aiming at encouraging medical practitioners who have made outstanding contributions to TCM acupuncture career.
